After spending the weekend soaking up some sun at the lake and enduring a scary storm last night, I have spent today dreaming of summer days and summer style. This summer I am taking the less-is-more approach when it comes to outfits. Here are a few tips to achieve a laid back and pulled together look:

1. Find the perfect pair of cut off shorts. Save some money by making your own with an old pair of jeans or thrift through Goodwill to find some old Levi’s or Wranglers. 2. Invest in a great pair of sandals. I am currently loving my pair of Steve Madden Ankle Strap Sandals and the return of the ever-so-comfy Birkenstock’s. 3. Backpacks are a must for any summer traveling. Check out http://ebengroup.com/ for not only a cute bag, but also for a wonderful cause started by one of my sorority sisters in college. 4. Find some great base tees that are comfy and can be paired with anything, madewell.com has a ton of different cuts and colors for the best basic tees that won’t fall apart after one wear but also won’t break the bank. 5. Accessorize with a great pair of sunglasses, fun statement necklaces, and gold bracelets and rings to pull off an effortless pulled together look. (images via)
