Being a teacher means living on a budget. Not only with my personal finances, but also with ideas and concepts that pertain to promoting my classes and students work.
A few weeks ago I was ask to run a booth at an expo to showcase my class to the community. When I think about Fashion Design and Marketing mixed with a fun interactive concept, I think photo booth! This simple and super affordable option for a backdrop looked put together and was the perfect way to spice up the area!
Supplies Needed:
6-10 Packages of Tissue Paper (I got Black, White, and Green)
2 Packages of Gold Fringe
Roll of Twine
Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue
Begin by laying out your tissue paper and fringing the bottom by cutting 1″ strips until you are 2″ away from the top of the tissue paper. (I found it works best if you split each package of tissue paper into thirds and cut 1″ strips or smaller). Cut all of your tissue paper until you have a fairly even amount of each color.
Grab your hot glue gun and begin laying out 5-7 fringe pieces, depending on the width you need for your back drop. Fold over the uncut edge of your tissue paper 1″ to create a casing. Hot glue a piece of twine along the casing, continuing to add each piece of tissue paper along the twine string. Make sure to leave roughly 4″ of twine on the ends to tie up the pieces to your stand.
Continue to piece together your strands of fringe, try to make every one a different combination so that you end up with an intricate look! Once you have finished each strand string them to the stand for your photo booth. I found that the more I layered the pieces the better the back drop looked!
I brought all of my old sorority date party hats and accessories to have as props! I also found a chalkboard sign and inflatable food items from Target for $1! Not only was this an easy and affordable way of showcasing my class, it was also tons of fun to see people from the community get to dress up and be goofy! A great fun and trendy way to stay on budget for any event!
